Field Health and Safety Specialist

Position Summary The Field Health and Safety Specialist reports to Walmart Canada’s Health and Safety Manager. The Field Health and Safety Specialist is responsible to drive Walmart Health and Safety programs within his or her dedicated Region, and shall be expert on occupational health and safety compliance within his or her Region. The Field Health and Safety Specialist’s primary job functions are to (i) provide training, support and auditing within his or her Region on Walmart Health and Safety programs, which are designed to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements, provide safe working conditions for associates, and a safe shopping environment for customers; (ii) provide field analysis of Walmart’s Health and Safety programs and make recommendations to the Health and Safety Manager; and (iii) drive provincial health and safety incentive programs within his or her Region (for example, Alberta PIR or BC Worksafe), by carrying out the obligations necessary for Walmart’s participation,including teaching, training and auditing (for example, Alberta PIR or BC Worksafe).

Position Responsibilities Partner with Stores, DLPMs and District Managers to ensure execution of Walmart Health and Safety programs within his or her Region to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and associate/customer injury prevention programs.

Provide expert advise on occupational health and safety compliance within his or her Region, consistent with Walmart Health and Safety policies.

Provide expert advise as required to respond to occupational health and safety regulatory orders or visits within his or her Region, consistent with Walmart Health and Safety policies.

Provide analysis and recommendations to the Health and Safety Manager on Walmart policies and procedures.

Ensure the execution of required actions for Walmart to participate in provincial health and safety incentive programs within his or her Region.

Provide teaching and training within his or her Region on Walmart Health and Safety policies.

Travel regularly to stores within his or her Region to assess compliance at store level and to identify potential gaps or opportunities in Walmart programs. Conduct regular audits and provide required reporting to Health and Safety Manager.

In partnership with Health and Safety Manager, conduct root cause analysis at store level to understand associate and customer accident trends and opportunities.

Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree

- 6 - 8 years experience

- Experienced in auditing of store compliance with occupational health and safety compliance. Experienced and familiar with provincial health and safety incentive programs.

- Ergonomics, occupational health and safety regulations, provincial health and safety programs.
