Job Status: Full Time, Employee Relevant Work Experience: 7+ to 10 Years Job Category: Accounting/Finance/Insurance Contact Information Company: CORESTAFF Services Email: Apply by Email Reference Code: 072608b Job Description Director of Tax   Director of Tax Salary:  Up to $175K (based on experience)Location:  Calabasas, CA  Position Summary:  The Tax Director will lead a team of talented individuals and will be responsible for all aspects of federal, state, local, property and sales tax compliance and audit management.  Reporting to the CFO, the Tax Director will manage and direct tax planning strategies, SOX compliance as well as FAS 109 and FIN 48 compliance.  This role demands a strong leader with broad tax knowledge and excellent communication skills. Key Duties & Responsibilities: Ensure that the Company meets all tax compliance deadlines by filing accurate, timely returns. Review monthly sales and use tax returns Manage the Company’s effective tax rate; review quarterly tax provision calculation and prepare all SFAS 109 and FIN 48 disclosures.  Ensure that all tax accounts are appropriate and supportable.  Reconcile tax accounts quarterly. Analyze tax accounting alternatives and research Federal and State laws and regulations Manage and direct all tax planning strategies Ensure SOX compliance and all internal controls related to tax processes and accounting  Review the Company’s quarterly income, excise and franchise tax liability computations Manage all income, sales, and unclaimed property tax audits Research tax laws and regulations for new taxing jurisdictions and inform IT and other affected departments of such laws Monitor tax legislation and regulations, interpret impact on company, and communicate relevant information to executive management Inform management of tax implications of various business plans and strategies (i.e. benefits, stock option plans, tip reporting, supplemental wages, fringe benefits, expansion, marketing, sales, etc.) Identify opportunities for tax incentives and efficiencies Provide leadership, communication, education, and mentoring to tax department, finance department and operations management Ensure compliance with TRAC agreement Respond to restaurant management requests for advice and guidance related to tip reporting Coordinate with legal department on filings in new and existing states   Education, Qualifications & Working Conditions: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is required Minimum 7 years of tax experience, public and corporate; Big 4 accounting firm experience a plus. Must have management experience Working knowledge of Federal and State Corporate Income Tax laws Working knowledge of sales and use tax laws Multi-state/multi-unit retail experience in an in-house Corporate Tax environment is highly preferred Strong quantitative skill and the ability to think critically Strong leadership skills Excellent interpersonal skills, including tact, discretion and ethics. Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to interpret contractual language into easily understandable text; comfortable in group presentation and negotiations. Self-directed with the ability to work independently as well as with groups.
