Position Summary
Princeton University, one of the world's leading research and teaching universities, is seeking a Director of Sponsored Research Accounting. This exciting, fast-paced position will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to work in an area essential to the core mission of the University and one of its fastest growing administrative areas. Reporting directly to the Vice President for Finance and the Treasury, the Director for Sponsored Research Accounting is responsible for the overall management of post-award activities at the University. Duties include supervision of Sponsored Research Accounting staff, the development of policies and procedures related to sponsored research accounting, oversight of compliance with sponsor and University policies related to the post-award administration of sponsored projects, interpretation of University policies and sponsoring agencies' regulations to faculty and staff; oversight of all audits conducted of sponsored programs by external and internal groups, management of response to findings, and oversight of all training and education to the University community related to the management of grants and contracts. The Director ensures that the needs of principal investigators and University departments are met as efficiently and effectively as possible and that procedures and controls are in place to monitor sub-contracts and their compliance with sub-contract provisions. Other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Essential Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field and a minimum of eight years' related work experience. At least five year's experience in sponsored project accounting, preferably in a higher education environment, and at least five years managerial experience. Demonstrated ability to understand and apply complex federal regulations within a University environment. Excellent project management, accounting, analytical and planning skills as well as exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal skills are required. Facility in Microsoft Office particularly Excel and ability to prepare reports, summaries and analyses and present findings and recommendations. Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem solving skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects. Must possess the ability to work closely and effectively with faculty and staff and all levels of management. The successful candidate must have the proven ability to interpret complex data with respect to regulations and policies, create policies, and the demonstrated ability to deal with sensitive confidential information with discretion and tact.
The finalist will be required to successfully pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA, MBA, or similar advanced degree strongly preferred.
