Cost Accountant With Great Plains Experience

Zone Labs is seeking a cost accountant with experience in the start up of baked goods manufacturing operations for Medwell Foods(Part of Zone Labs). Medwell Foods is a manufacturer of baked goods located in Maspeth, NY. Medwell has been in operations since April 2006 as an R&D operation. This company needs to transition to a true manufacturing operation utilizing a Microsoft Great Plains platform. Medwell currently employs approximately 12 people. The successful candidate will join a finance team that is based in Marblehead, MA(we will be flexible if its a long commute) and supports the site manager at Medwell Foods in Maspeth, NY

Key Result Accountabilities



* Handle all cost accounting functions for Medwell Foods.

* Responsible for constructing data accumulation systems utilizing Great Plains and Batch Master

* Responsible for analyzing materials and production costs, product development, and cost of sales

* Establish and maintain Labor Rates

* Responsible to review accuracy of inventory standards and actual quantities.

* Responsible for analysis of actual manufacturing costs and disposition of all significant production variances.

* Prepare monthly closing entries and cost data schedules for monthly operating statement.

* Responsible for all Cost Accounting data to produce monthly gross profit reports, Key Indicates/Business Success Factor reports and other analytical reports.

* Account for raw materials/subcontract portion of Accounts Payable.

* Provide reports, schedules, documentations, and any inventory functions related to bakery.

* Support Finance, GMP and Sarbanes-Oxley Audits as needed



Qualifications/Requirements:



* Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related Field Required

* 3-5 years experience in cost accounting

* Must be proficient in Microsoft Great Plains

* Experience with Batch Master helpful

* Prior Experience in Manufacturing Industry (Baked Goods preferred)

* Knowledge and Understanding of GMP’s

* Ability to work independently

* Ability to deal with people at different levels

* Strong initiative and be a team player

* This position may require occasional (less than 10%) travel between sites
