Job Summary:

 

Butterball, LLC is seeking to hire a Cost Accountant I.  This person will perform complex, managerial, technical, and administrative duties and provide cost accounting functions.  Complete daily and weekly production reporting process, maintain and update into SAP system, and reconcile inventories on a daily basis.  Generally requires three or more years of work experience with two years in Finance or Accounting with a four year degree in Finance, or Accounting.  The person will have an advanced skill level in MS Excel, and be proficient in MS Word, and MS PowerPoint. 

 

Essential Functions:

 

Ø Direct the accurate compilation of weekly usage reports, and completion of weekly cost processing ensuring timely completion and meeting of identified deadlines.

Ø Collects and analyzes data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor.

Ø Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costing.

Ø Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual manufacturing costs.

Ø Prepare cost estimates of new or special run products for establishing selling prices and updates to production forecasts.

Ø Responsible for routine variance analyses of manufacturing costs of payroll, inventory, distribution and review of correct charges by department.

Ø Assist in a variety of day-to-day activities within the operations department.

Ø Prepare correcting Journal entries based on departments for use in controlling expenditures.

Ø Compiles cost information to be used in annual operating budget.

Ø Makes estimates on new and proposed product or service costs.

Ø Develop and format cost reports as requested by local management.

Ø Coordinate with Operations to develop more efficient reporting procedures.

Ø Reconcile production reporting paperwork from Operations.

Ø Highlight issues impacting plant product cost and communicate regularly with plant operations.

Ø Identify trends that impact cost and quality.

Ø Participate actively in problem identification and solution.

 

 Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:

 

Ø This person must have an in depth knowledge of accounting practices and principles, with a background in the manufacturing industry. 

Ø Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

Ø Solid problem solving skills, a strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail required.

Ø High level of integrity and accuracy.

 

Education and Experience

 

Generally requires five or more years of work experience with three years in Finance or Accounting.  Should have experience with a large ERP software system like SAP, Oracle, and JD Edwards. This position requires a four year degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent experience.  Advanced level in MS Excel, and must be proficient in MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
