Controller - Real estate Development
Corporate Controller needed for Real Estate development company located in Boca Raton. Qualifications: •Six plus year’s hands-on real estate development accounting. •Financial reporting experience including principles of consolidation and leadership role in review/preparation of audited reports with full footnotes. •Five plus years supervisory experience of accounting staff, no less than five persons with various skills/experience. •Five plus year’s general ledger review and analysis experience. •Lender/Investor compliance reporting. •Budget preparation. •Financial analysis. •Cash Management. •General knowledge of income tax laws affecting real estate development and operations for individuals, partnerships and LLC’s. Responsibilities - General: •Review system of internal controls on regular basis and recommend modifications/updates where necessary. Insure compliance with same. •Assure compliance with Corporate Accounting Policy and Procedures and recommend changes where improvements can be made. •Assure the timely filing of all Federal and State tax returns. •Monitor contracts and purchase orders issued for the corporate activity and for projects under development. •Bank covenant monitoring, reporting, and compliance. •Monitor and define performance standards for the accounting staff. •Develop and maintain timely and accurate information systems and reports. •Direct and monitor cash management including bank lines of credit, construction loans. •Prepare proforma cash projections for project loan restructuring, refinancing, or potential sale. •Supervise and coordinate the preparation of the long-range annual business plans •Take the lead to coordinate and monitor annual audit or reviews •Issuance, monitoring, renewal and release of Letters of Credit and bonds. •Payroll: placement of personnel, bonus incentive monitoring and approval. •Coordinate land and construction loan closings. •Track interest rates, set LIBOR rates on floating rate loan, publish trends. •Supervise the controller of construction entity, including both planning and review involvement in annual and long-term business plans and financial statements. •Take the lead in creating and producing management reports that analyze trends, comparative analysis and benchmark performance for executive management. Requirements •Experience with Timberline or other similar general ledger and job cost accounting platform. •Strong knowledge of accounting for investments in real estate limited partnerships. •Intermediate knowledge of Excel (ability to design spreadsheets, use graphing capabilities, etc.). Preferred •2 or more years public accounting experience. •5 or more years experience in company with multiple operating entities, both consolidated and unconsolidated.
