Controller/Director of Finance
A private community of 9,000 residents in the greater Savannah area is seeking an experienced Controller/Director of Finance with the following qualifications: Degree in Accounting/Finance, CPA preferred, experience in a Property Owner’s Association or similar environment; Strong knowledge and experience in financial statement preparation, AICPA standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; Strong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed asset, payroll, income tax, cash management/investment and banking working knowledge; Demonstrated leadership and managerial abilities and customer service orientation; Solid verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work with and influence a wide range of people. Attention to detail and command of the numbers is critical. The Controller is responsible for the overall financial health of The Landings Association including financial reporting, monitoring cash flow, developing budgets and long range financial plans, meeting tax and audit requirements, and establishing internal controls. The position supervises a Finance staff of three employees who perform payroll, A/P, A/R, fixed asset, and general ledger functions. As such, excellent communication, coaching, and leadership skills are required. The Landings Association is a not for profit organization comprised of 80 employees across 7 departments including Security, Public Works, Marinas, Community Relations, Community Development, Human Resources and Finance. The Controller supports all of these departments, reports directly to the General Manager, and works closely with an external Finance Committee comprised of residents. The Controller is a member of a Leadership team that sets the operational direction for the organization and, as such, strategic thinking and teamwork skills are critical attributes of the successful candidate. The Landings Association is continuing to develop a culture of leadership at all levels with a core value set of Customer Service, Teamwork, Initiative/Ownership and Effectiveness.
