Position Description:

Under supervision, perform professional auditing work.  Assist in preparing annual review plans and schedules for the conduct of audits of internal operations and processes as well as the agency’s concessionaires.  Develop and complete audit programs including drafting memos, letters and reports that reflect audit activities and findings.  Perform audits of books and financial records in accordance with GAGAS (Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards) to determine if all the terms and conditions of the agreement have been properly authorized and executed.  Evaluate adequacy of existing financial and operational procedures and controls based on results of tests performed.  Prepare written reports that objectively state all relevant financial and contract compliance findings and recommendations.  (Written text is substantiated with appropriate tables, charts and financial summaries.)  Conduct follow-up review of the audits performed by the City Comptroller’s Office to ensure that any cited deficiencies are corrected and recommendations implemented.  Assist in annual evaluation of the agency’s systems of internal controls for effectiveness and efficiency and prepare the Charter mandated internal control statement (Comptroller’s Directive # 1).  Prepare the Audit Implementation Plan (AIP) on audits performed by the City Comptroller’s Office and submit to the Audit Services Unit, Mayor’s Office of Operations.  Work closely with the Parks’ Revenue and Budget divisions, City Comptroller’s Office and Mayor’s Office of Operations.

 

Qualifications Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree & 2 yrs exp and NYS CPA license (11868) or Bachelor’s degree & 1 yr experience (11868B).

Note: New York City residency required within 90 days of hire.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

1.      A Master’s degree in Business or Public Administration, with a concentration in accounting or finance.

2.      Exceptional ability to understand and interpret complex contractual agreements.

3.      Capacity to think creatively and strategically when problem solving.

4.      Ethically minded with superior analytical, communication and organizational skills.

5.      Valid New York State Driver License.
