Club Controller

Reporting Relationship:

 

Reports directly to the General Manager/Chief Operating Officer

Position also reports on a strong dotted line to the Principal Ownership Group

 

Summary:

 

Participates with the GM and Principal Ownership to formula the strategic financial plan.  Key areas of responsibilities include treasury management, corporate finance, accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, analysis and control, information systems, tax, cash and risk management.  Overseas and implements all financial policies and procedures including internal financial controls.  Maintains all Human Resource files and payroll administration.

 

Primary Functions and Essential Responsibilities:

 

1.        Oversees all financial functions including financial reporting, accounting, treasury, federal and state tax withholding and reporting, accounts payable and receivable, credit collection, audit, risk management, planning, analysis, budgeting and payroll.  Recommends, develops and directs the formulation of financial plans and policies.

2.        Directs preparation of fiscal records and financial reports.

3.        Ensure compliance with GAAP, FASB, Sarbanes Oxley and other regulatory requirements.

4.        Directs oversight of all financial audits working closely with the external auditors.

5.        Directs budget review process.  Ensures timely and accurate business and financial reports and plans.  Presents them to the GM and Principal Ownership.

6.        Directs preparation of annual operating and business plans.

7.        Oversees management of treasury operations including receipts, disbursements, investments, cash forecasting, borrowing and bank relationships.

8.        Manages the Accounting staff.

9.        Maintains commercial bank relationships.

10.    Oversees financial planning, reporting, analysis and general ledger.

11.    Solicits bids and makes recommendations for all forms of business insurance.  (P+C, General Liability, Marine, etc.)

12.    Ensures timely and accurate processing and reporting.

13.    Consults with and advises management on financial and control issues, compliance and risk management.

14.    Contributes to long range and strategic planning regarding budgeting and forecasting.

15.    Manages month end account reconciliation

16.    Oversees cost analysis, complex costing systems and major programs such as building projects, hardware and software installation.

17.    Responsible for accurate and timely member billing and collection.

18.    Responsible for computer system management

19.    Responsible for Human Resource – (employee files, tax documentation, identification, etc.)

 

Education:

  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. MBA or an advanced degree in finance preferred CPA designation preferred

 

 

Required Knowledge/Skills:

  Strong knowledge of accounting, finance, reporting, budgeting, audits, accounting standards and tax Working knowledge of GAAP and FASB compliance and reporting requirements Working familiarity with Club and Food and Beverage operations and control and finance issues strongly preferred. About to exercise judgment and sensitivity in handling confidential matters Demonstrated supervisory skills.
