South Carolina Research Authority’s mission is to promote wealth creation for the citizens of the State of South Carolina through: Building Industry/Government Academia Collaborations, Managing Applied R&D Programs, Commercialization Services, leadership in the Shift to a Knowledge Economy. SCRA is a non-stock, tax-exempt applied research and commercialization services company, and currently manages over 35 national and multinational programs worth over $270M in applied R&D contract value.
SCRA has recently been recognized for their strong impact on the State’s critical goal of achieving higher levels of knowledge-based economic development within South Carolina. In 2007, the economic contribution to South Carolina was $1.4B. SCRA has offices in Anderson, Charleston and Columbia, SC. This position will be in the Charleston office.
This growth has created numerous career opportunities for individuals of strong character and competence, both from within as well as outside the organization. The Chief Financial Analyst will report directly to the CFO, and will have primary responsibility for supporting the organization in delivering strategic and tactical financial/business direction for SCRA and its’ 5 affiliate organizations. Specific responsibilities involve corporate-level financial analysis, including cash flow, contribution margins, budget consolidation and performance results, as well as benchmarking, contract compliance monitoring, process evaluations, implementation of IT tools, and risk management.
Critical competencies required:
· Results-focused, balanced with interpersonal savvy
· Prior management/leadership experience
· Federal Contracting Experience (Federal Acquisition, Procurement, Procedures, Compliance)
· Exceptionally strong business and financial analysis, combined with “strategic” perspective
· Ability to execute by synthesizing many data points and with little direction
· Ability to listen well, assimilate and develop alternative solutions that are both innovative and compliant
· Ability to be persuasive and hold a strong, well thought out, position in the face of strong opposition
· Desire and capacity to be mentored by CFO in order to grow quickly with the organization’s needs while supporting the overall goals of SCRA and the Finance Department
Desired Education and Experience
· MBA with six years of experience or BS degree with 10-12 years experience of increasing complexity
· Five years of management responsibilities; CMA or CPA preferred
· Previous experience in the federal contracting environment, including familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations and Cost Accounting Standards
· Experience with implementation of IT tools in a financial environment
· Outstanding written and verbal communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
· Ability to read and interpret various legal rulings, contracts and regulations
