Canada job accounting: Accounts Payable Administrator

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Accounts Payable Administrator with great communication skills and strong attention to detail and for someone who is looking for a cohesive team environment and rewarding career.
Reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, the Accounts Payable Administrator is responsible for providing effective and accurate day-to-day processing of vendor billings and employee expenses and ensures that all invoices are accurately processed, reviewed and mailed within established deadlines.

Major Responsibilities:
• Responds to search requests from both internal and external clients on the Accounts Payable systems, reviewing and verifying all necessary files/documents needed to answer queries.
• Ensures timely and accurate processing of Accounts Payable invoices and journal entries; secures all necessary approvals from required parties.
• Verifies that invoices are correctly coded to the applicable cost centres.
• Verifies and applies any discounts that may be applicable to any invoices.
• Reconciles vendor statements.
• Processes payments in a timely manner to avoid late payment charges/penalties.
• Prepares cheques/cheque requisitions and wires for approval and signature by Senior Management.
• Processes employee expense and government tax payments in an accurate and timely manner.
• Maintains complete and accurate invoice filing system.
• Completes spreadsheet summaries, reconciliations and vendor analysis as requested.
• Assists with cost reduction initiatives, calculations of future amounts due.
• Prepares monthly reports for Senior Management review.
• Other related duties/analysis/reports as required by the Manager.

Skills and Experience
• Minimum 2 years accounting experience
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Post secondary courses in Accounting are preferred
• Intermediate level experience with PC applications, such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Familiarity with the following systems would be beneficial but is not required; Epicor, WorkFlow, Concur, CentreSuite, GEMS.
