Business Developer

A business advisory firm has an excellent opportunity for a Business Developer to generate leads and develop new business opportunities in the Philadelphia/South Jersey market. This position reports to the firm’s director of marketing and business development. For more information, 
Primary responsibilities for this position are as follows:
Identify new business opportunities – Leverage your existing network and account penetration skills to generate prospects for the firm. Develop new targets through cold calling and development of new networks. Analyze target lists and manage research efforts into new companies, industries, or localities to target. Identify and coordinate networking opportunities – Coordinate firm’s involvement in trade association events or possible speaking engagements consistent with marketing goals. Manage opportunities through to sales – Ensure appropriate follow-up throughout the sales process by coordinating meetings, proposals, and sales presentations. Assess local market trends – Provide ongoing updates on key industries and local geographic trends. Profile competition – Track and summarize activities of key competitors. Manage firm business development events – Organize seminars and receptions relating to expanding the firm’s business.

The ideal candidate will have:
Bachelor’s degree (MBA a plus) in Marketing. 5-7 years of business development experience in a professional services environment. In addition to previous work experience, the team-oriented candidate will be strategic, relationship-focused, flexible, high-energy, tenacious, results-oriented, and have an existing network. The candidate should be proficient in MS Office, particularly Word, Excel and PPT; CRM systems; and be adept in utilizing the internet for marketing research. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.
