Responsibilities:
General Summary/Overview:
The Staff Accountant II is a member of the finance staff of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Brigham & Women’s Physician’s Organization (BWPO) and reports to the department Financial Analyst III.

This position is responsible for the preparation of numerous entries for the monthly financial close, ensuring that all monthly close activity is completed in a timely manner, preparation of the monthly Board Report, assisting in preparation of quarterly Revenue & Expense Statements, cash log/entry review and ad hoc analysis as necessary. This position will work with other internal Finance staff, department Practice Management staff, BWH staff external to the department, Partners Healthcare Systems (PHS) accounting, the department’s external billing company and satellite hospital contacts.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Monthly Close
o Prepare numerous monthly journal entries, including various accruals, and work with PHS to ensure timely posting.
o Manage all JE posting from the JE book file. This is to ensure all postings are done timely.
2. Board Report
o Prepare the majority of the monthly Board Report based on PeopleSoft & Vision reports.
3. Revenue and Expense Statements
o Help prepare the quarterly Revenue History reports, expense queries and the majority of quarterly revenue and expense statements under the Financial Analyst III supervision.
4. Cash Process
o Reconcile payments deposited to the lock box and what has been posted to IDX.
5. Cross Coverage for another Staff Accountant II
o Generate and distribute monthly invoices from the PeopleSoft A/R (PSAR) system
o Follow up on contract revenue receivable as necessary to ensure timely receipt of payment
6. Malpractice
o Work on the Malpractice expense under the supervision of the Senior Financial Analyst. This file is maintained on a calendar year ($2.5M annual expense) with expenses accounted on Department’s Fiscal year
7. Other Responsibilities
o Assist with reconciliation of Department’s endowment and BWH related cost centers
o Assist with preparation, estimates and data entry for annual operating budget
o Support other finance staff members as needed
o Assist with various financial analysis as needed

Requirements:
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with experience
• Two-three years practical experience required.
• One-two years experience in the healthcare industry desired
