Associate Staff Accountant

Job Overview:
As part of the W&R Corporate Accounting Division, this position is a member of the Compensation Accounting team and will primarily be responsible for assisting and supporting the Compensation Accounting staff with day-to-day operations for the Pershing advisors. Serve as liaison between the Financial Advisors Division Field Service team and the Compensation Accounting department. Handle month-end journal entries, account reconciliation, and the monitoring of field office employees’ deductions for the Pershing system.
Responsibilities:
Administer semi-monthly processes for the Pershing system.
Prepare monthly Compensation Accounting journal entries and month-end account proofs for the Pershing system.
Serve as the point of contact for employees and other departments regarding compensation and payroll processing questions for the Pershing system.
Act as liaison between the Field Service department and Compensation Accounting regarding compensation questions for the Pershing system.
Enter manual checks and void checks as necessary.
Set up and maintain advisors and teams in Pershing system.
Enter manual adjustments in Pershing compensation system as necessary.
Work with MSD and Pershing to feed files to and from Waddell & Reed.
Work with Pershing to maintain the Pershing commission system and build required reporting.
Write and maintain detailed procedural manuals for the Pershing system.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and 1-3 years of experience required.
Highly organized with exceptional time management and problem solving skills.
Solid verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
PC proficiency with spreadsheets. Experience with payroll computer systems, such as Ceridian, is a big plus.
Able to work successfully in a team environment.
Able to work under pressure and manage several deadline-oriented projects simultaneously.
Regular and predictable attendance with willingness to work overtime as needed.
