Assistant Controller Technical Accounting

Itron is seeking a driven individual who is interested in growing with a large global company to take on the Assistant Controller position to lead and direct the company's effort on resolving complex accounting matters, develop, publish and communicate worldwide accounting policies to ensure compliance with US GAAP and SEC rules, consult with business units to ensure awareness of transactions and assess implications of new accounting standards and lead the related implementation efforts. We offer a challenging and rewarding career path.Duties & Responsibilities: ' Own the process for identifying, researching, resolving, and documenting solutions to complex accounting issues and questions through strong verbal and written communication skills. ' Documentation of complex accounting issues in formal white papers to ensure company compliance with US GAAP. ' Manage an in-house repository of research questions and conclusions. ' Monitor accounting developments and disseminate information within the organization as needed. ' Develop and lead in-house GAAP training programs. ' Own accounting research tools and services and assist others with the use of such tools. ' Develop and maintain, or where appropriate oversee and review, corporate/worldwide accounting policies to ensure compliance with GAAP. Draft, review, update and publish Itron accounting policies as required. ' Lead the assessment and implementation of new GAAP requirements. Identify planning opportunities to optimize the impact of new GAAP on the company's results. ' Interact with external auditors to present and support positions on accounting issues and the implementation of new GAAP. ' Own the accounting policy footnote in the financial statements and the disclosure of critical accounting policies in the 10K. ' Prepare communications of potential implications of emerging standards for the finance organization, the Audit Committee and the Board of directors, as appropriate on new accounting pronouncements. ' Review business projects/proposed transactions to ensure that accounting implications are considered and practical solutions proposed. ' Provide accounting and finance due diligence support for M&A transactions. ' Must be proficient in researching and applying US GAAP to business activities and documenting analysis for Senior Management and external auditors. ' Assist as requested with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and external reporting.
