Assistant Controller - Half Moon Bay, California

We are currently seeking a full-time Assistant Controller for our Accounting & Finance group based out of our company headquarters, located in Half Moon Bay, California. As the Assistant Controller, you will be responsible for oversight of the timely and accurate completion of the close process, financial reporting process, and compliance with SOX requirements. Specific areas of oversight include the General Ledger area, financial reporting, and sales, use, and redemption value tax reporting. This position will also be a key liaison in future enhancements to financial systems. This position is responsible for 2 direct reports and a total team of 5 people.

Specific responsibilities include:Oversight of timely completion of the close process, assuring compliance with GAAP, company policies and SOX requirements. Prepare and coordinate monthly and quarterly financial statement, data and variance analysis for internal reporting and submission to parent company (Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Income Statement, volume/rate mix analysis and other analyses). Prepare and coordinate additional financial reporting and analysis such as rolling financial estimates, annual budget preparation, and annual reporting requirements. Oversee preparation, reconciliation and submission of certain entries into GL System. Coordinate integration of various financial system data to meet financial reporting requirements (e.g., Oracle, Discoverer volume data, Numeric data, etc.), working in conjunction with other key financial managers (General Accounting Manager, Sr. Financial Planning & Analysis Manager, Sales & Operations Accounting Manager, Manufacturing Controller, and A/R & Credit Services Manager) Improve and maximize utilization of various financial systems for use in reporting and analysis. Create and maintain customized financial reports to meet changing business needs. Act as a liaison in the finance organization on finance-related IT initiatives. Other duties and projects as may be assigned.Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance plus a minimum of 7 years’ combined General Ledger, financial reporting, and management of close process experience with a consumer products or manufacturing company; experience with enterprise software (e.g., Oracle); financial report writing experience (e.g., Oracle FSG, Hyperion); and advanced Excel skills. Experience rate and volume mix analysis highly desired. CPA and/or MBA highly desired.
