Controller responsible for implementing and maintaining an Inventory Control function within the organization, developing proper controls and audit procedures to ensure that all inventory and related cost of sales activity is properly accounted, and providing Oracle functional support to the Accounting group and acting as a liaison with technical & development support. Responsibilities Review and develop procedures for recording physical movement of inventory to insure proper and timely recording of purchases, inventory transfers, WIPS and builds, returns to vendors, returns from customers and cost of sales,. Develop and implement recommendations to improve inventory reporting and control systems, process for reconciliation and monitoring of Oracle activity to fulfillment center reports, and process for monitoring proper accounting of customer returns and reconditioning activity of these handsets for optimum Company benefit. Review and reconcile cost of sales activity to shipping and inventory data and record adjustments as required. Perform periodic cycle counts of the company’s inventories at all locations and reconcile counts to general ledger balances. Investigate and report significant shortages/overages. Compile statistical reports on inventory balances, valuation and cost in order to assist senior management in the determination of proper inventory levels and all other required information regarding product and inventory. Insure that interfaces to the general ledger from the purchasing and sales subsystems are proper and timely in accordance with Company policy. Direct the review of purchasing and vendor activity (accounts payable) to insure reasonableness of any recorded variances between purchase order and vendor invoice, and analysis of general ledger activity for inventory accounts and review the preparation of monthly schedules. Perform analysis of purchasing activity in order to develop and update cost for all products in accordance with GAAP and company policy. Review book to perpetual inventory valuation monthly and determine adequacy of valuation reserves. Review monthly inventory levels and determine adequacy of obsolescence reserves. Direct the preparation of monthly freight and fulfillment cost analysis to ensure maximum benefit and minimum cost. Prepare all inventory and cost of sales schedules for annual and interim audits and provide assistance to auditors in physical inventory count. Prepare footnotes to the financial statements for proper disclosure of inventory and cost of sales. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or other finance related background is required. CPA or equivalent preferred. 5 years of related supervisory and financial analysis & accounting work. Significant work in an Oracle environment. Knowledge of company database systems is desirable. Strong computer skills.  Strong Oracle financial system skills. Computer skills including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
