Accounts Receivable Specialist

We currently have a great opportunity for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join the Fiscal Services team.

The Specialist will be responsible for the following:

· Submit or bill Medicaid claims, and maintain follow-up of suspended and denied claims

· Correct the claims by rebilling new invoices to Medicaid. This consists of R&B claims for the Long Term Care (LTC) & Medical Acute Care (MACU) Units Medicaid cases and secondary co-insurance claims for the Skilled Nursing Unit (SNF).

· Use MCD eligibility & claim status web sites to identify claims payment issues, and consistently review, update, & transmit claims for all categories.

· Bill and follow-up on supplemental Medicaid crossover claims relating to Inpatient, SNF and MACU after paid by Medicare Part A & B.

· Work with supervisor to review accounts receivable trial balances and identify unpaid or underpaid claims; determine reason(s) for balance and take appropriate steps to contact appropriate party to resolve payment issue(s).

· Maintain Tickler file of Outstanding Accounts (O/S) to include telephone notes based on work to resolve outstanding issues.

· Analyze remits and resolve denials for Medicaid claims; contact MCD offices to update eligibility.

· Assist with Monthly Cash Posting of Third Party cash receipts and balance to Cash Journal.

· Review Medicaid paid claims for differences between our expected and the payment; working to identify and resolve the differences.
Primary Responsibilities:


Qualified candidates must be proficient using Excel and Word. A minimum of two years related experience is essential. Candidates must have knowledge of third party billing and collection procedures. Experience with MassHealth on line claims processing and eligibility verification is a plus. It is essential for candidates to be highly organized and detail oriented; and have strong verbal and written communication skills.
