Basic Purpose: Supervise staff.  Ensure monthly closing is performed properly and timely. Responsible for reviewing and evaluating the accuracy of all trial balance accounts assigned to staff accountants in accordance with GAAP. Prepares various analyses to verify that GL postings are reasonable including performing reconciliations of advanced trial balance accounts and budget to actuals analysis.  Review staff entries and prepare monthly closing package.  Aide in the preparation and analysis of support from staff and work with auditors to complete the year-end external audit.  Works with Controller and Assistant Controller on department financial reporting/budgeting and other ad-hoc projects.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Month-end close responsibilities:

· Review staff postings/reconciliations and prepare financial reports

· Prepare monthly executive closing package

· Review of project reserve reports

· Coordinate requests from field operations for monthly accruals and P&L research

· Financial reporting system maintenance

· Preparation of consolidated quarterly financials including cash flow

· Recurring journal entry review

· Intangible asset account maintenance

 Working Capital Management:

·  Prepare working capital management reports

·  Review cash applications and AR status

·  Preparation of cash projections

35%

Special Projects

·  Assist with new reporting and equity system implementation

·  Coordinate and support year end external audit

·  Assist Central Operations with budget planning process

·  Enhancement of cash projections and general treasury process

·  M&A integration as needed

Essential Education, Skills and Environment

Education and Work Experience

Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting required (accounting preferred).  Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of accounting experience with an emphasis on general ledger accounting.  Also a minimum of three years of supervisory experience required (includes project/audit management and not necessarily direct career advisory experience). A combination of public accounting and industry experience is a plus.  CPA required. Some exposure to equity accounting and SOX is preferred. Cash management experience and experience with advanced financial modeling is strongly desired.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Technical and comprehensive knowledge of all accounting functional areas.  Thorough knowledge of US GAAP.  Excellent time management, oral and written communications, decision making, presentation, human relations, and organizational skills. Extremely organized and detail oriented.

Equipment and Applications

Advance skill in PCs, financial spreadsheet and familiarity with GL systems are required.  Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.  Proficiency in financial reporting software is also preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

General office environment.  No special physical demands required.
