Accounting Policy Specialist - Risk & Policy Analysis

The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston has an opening for a team-oriented, technically skilled accounting policy specialist. The position is structurally within the Risk and Policy Analysis Unit of the Bank’s Supervision, Regulation and Credit department but supports all units in the department and will be reporting into the Director of Accounting Policy and Analysis.



Responsibilties:



Primary responsibilities include applying accounting knowledge to the supervision of financial institutions through participation in applicable examinations, analyzing public filings and regulatory reports, and evaluating performance and risk measurement practices.Serving as a key department resource regarding the interpretation and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for the financial reporting of financial institutions as well as questions relating to Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) and providing support in the areas of audit, internal controls and corporate governance.Evaluating new accounting rules, issues and developments and their potential impact on the financial services industry through original research and detailed analysis. Participating on Reserve Bank or Federal Reserve System projects or initiatives that require accounting expertise; and facilitating the exchange of accounting knowledge through participation in System accounting networks, preparation and delivery of accounting training, presentation to staff and management, and use other communication vehicles.



Requirements:

Requirements include knowledge and experience normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a business-related discipline.Current Certified Public Accountant designation with 3-5 years related experience in public accounting and some exposure to the financial services industry. Prior bank supervision or regulatory experience would offer a distinct advantage as would experience in a prior accounting policy role. Candidates are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills as well as strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
