Accounting Policy Director
The Accounting Policy Director will have primary responsibility for ensuring that National City's accounting policies and procedures are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Key responsibilities of this position consist of:·Advises management on the proper application of generally accepted accounting principles related to new or unusual transactions.·Partners with finance personnel throughout the organization to understand new products and/or strategies which require accounting interpretations.·Monitors the development of new accounting standards at the FASB and briefs senior management on future changes to our accounting practices.·Leads the accounting policy team in the implementation of new accounting standards and obtains consensus from management on implementation strategies.·Directs the work of accounting policy staff and prioritizes resources to address time sensitive issues. Oversees the development of internal accounting policies.·Reviews all accounting policy conclusions on significant or complex subjects.·Presents significant accounting policy conclusions to the external auditors, facilitates their understanding of the issue and the basis for our conclusions.·Manages the continued professional development of accounting policy personnel.·Communicates with peers at other financial institutions to assess industry policies and practices.QualificationsCandidate must possess an active CPA license and be able to interpret and apply complex accounting literature. Qualifications for this position would generally consist of 10 or more years of public accounting experience, 5 years of supervisory experience and excellent communication skills. Experience with accounting for acquisitions, divestitures, loan sales and securitizations, derivatives and structured transactions would be highly desirable.Normal business hours.
