Shred-it 

provides on-site shredding of confidential information and recycles all shredded paper.  Our team enjoys our state of the art office, baling, and warehouse facility built in 2005.  We are locally owned and operated and WBE certified by the State of Missouri.  The co-owners were named the 2008 Missouri Small Business Team of the Year and received their award in Washington, DC in May. 

 

We offer great flexibility to the right candidate in this part-time position.  The successful candidate is proficient in the duties required of the position, has had longevity with former employers, and comes with excellent references of accuracy and success.  Pro-rated vacation time is offered along with participation in our 401(k) plan when eligible. 

 

Our team has twice won the award for the highest score on the customer satisfaction survey and the Shred-it President's Award.  Our new accountant/bookkeeper must have the same ethics and qualities of our winning team.

 

Job Purpose:

 

Responsible for performing all accounting functions, payroll, and 401(k) contribution entries

 

 

Duties:

 

* Accounts Payable - maintain vendor information, review invoice variances, enter invoices, and generate checks

 

* General Ledger - maintain, balance, reconciling entries

 

* Maintains electronic payroll information, changes, etc.; and enters bi-weekly payroll to ADP.  Enters corresponding payroll Journal Entries

 

* Month end closing, report generation and analysis, and reconciliation with A/R totals in proprietary software program

 

* Maintains historical records by filing documents

 

* Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends  

 

* Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising management on needed actions

 

* Year end preparation of documents needed by external accountants

 

* Enter adjusting entries at beginning of new fiscal year

 

* Assist with posting of A/R checks and A/P invoice closings

 

* Maintain supplies needed in the accounting department

Physical requirements:

 

Ability to sit for long periods while keyboarding at the computer

Ability to lift archived record boxes weighing up to 40 lbs. 

 

Other requirements:

 

Prior experience and proficiency with QuickBooks Pro, Microsoft Work and Excel.  

 

Accounting degree preferred.

 

Successful candidate must be able to pass criminal and credit background check and pre-employment physical if offered the position.
