Role and Responsibilities



Perform a treasury function. This role primarily involves managing all banking related items which include (but are not limited to) reconciling bank accounts, investigating cash differences, and managing cash flow. This role also assists with general accounting and financial reporting.



PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES



- Prepares, analyzes and manages cash flow

- Reconciles store and corporate bank accounts

- Reconciles credit and debit card receivable accounts

- Investigates and reports cash differences

- Enters General Ledger transactions (month-end, adjustments, reclassification, accruals)

- Reports gross sales

- Assists in the preparation of month-end files

- Assists in the preparation and gathering of documents for interim, year-end audits and tax reviews

- Assists in the preparation of monthly reports and variance analysis of actual results to budget

- Assists in the preparation of budgets and forecasts

- Prepares government statistic questionnaires (as required)

- Assists in projects, as needed, by the Senior Accountant and Finance Manager





REQUIREMENTS



- Pursuing a CMA or CGA designation with accounting experience preferred

- Minimum 3 years experience in an accountant role for a medium size company

- Previous experience working with or at a retailer/wholesaler, is an asset

- Excellent organization & interpersonal skills

- Exceptional verbal & written communication skills

- Intermediate to advanced level skill with MS Office programs, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

- Savvy with accounting systems, familiarity with Lotus and SAP is an asset

- Maintain strict confidentiality

- Must be a self-starter who works well independently and in team environments

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously

- Willing to take on new tasks with minimal supervision

- Results oriented with strong bias for action and a high level of energy and enthusiasm
