Plant Cost Accountant

 

 

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under limited supervision, performs various accounting operational activities to support plant operations such as analyzing operations, analyzing manufacturing variances, preparing product margin analyses, preparing reports and financial statements, reviewing general ledger entries for accuracy and compliance, and assisting the plant controller with other financial functions.  Applies accounting principles requiring a high degree of technical expertise and recommends changes to current accounting policies and procedures.

 

SCOPE:

Performs various analytical and accounting activities to support plant operations and provides support to the Plant Controller.  Must have potential and desire to become Plant Controller

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 1.Reconciles and reviews general ledger to ensure accuracy and compliance with established accounting principles and procedures.

 

2. Assists in financial closing activities to insure that proper cutoffs are maintained and that the close is accomplished within the timeframe established.

 

3.  Maintains CIP and fixed asset records and performs periodic audits to ensure the accounting records comply with corporate standards.

 

4. Prepares plant operating reports and performs advanced analyses such as analyzing actual results versus Forecast and AOP and tracks Cost Improvement programs for the plant.

 

5. Develops and prepares accounting statements, schedules, consolidations, analyses and reports to reflect the financial condition of the plant.



6. Maintains the standard cost system; monitors Product Change Orders, develops plant overhead rates, verifies labor rates and material costs and rolls standard costs within the ERP System

7. Analyzes and recommends changes in accounting systems and procedures to continuously improve efficiency and productivity.

 

8. Reviews capital, tooling and prototype expenditure budgets/requests to verify accuracy and compliance with corporate policy.

 

 

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1. Completes and performs other duties/tasks as may be assigned.

 

2. May assist on special or other projects assigned by supervisor.

 

 

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education:Bachelor’s Degree in business with a concentration in Accounting.

 

Experience: Five years of manufacturing experience and hands-on knowledge of ERP systems using multi-level BOM’s and routers.  Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.  Preference will be given to candidates with Automotive or other high volume manufacturing experience and hands-on experience with QAD MFG Pro ERP system.

Knowledge: Requires through knowledge of financial requirements, procedures and operating methods in a manufacturing environment.
