Department description:
The GL Staff Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager in the Accounting Department and is responsible for a variety of monthly and quarterly entries and analysis, cash management and a variety of regulatory reporting.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and review weekly regulatory reporting
• Prepare month end close reclasses, accruals, schedules and reconciliations
• Prepare monthly P&L variance analysis
• Create financial reports
• Prepare quarterly financial statement variance analysis for external auditors
• Responsible for preparing parent company financial statements
• Responsible for preparing elimination entries and consolidation of financial statements
• Prepare graphs for board of directors
• Assist with yearly budgeting
• Assist in preparation of tax returns
• Assist in maintaining the fixed assets subledger
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Minimum of 2 years of industry accounting or 2 years of public accounting
• CPA preferred but not required
• Knowledge of general ledgers, journal entries, and month end closing procedures.
• Strong computer skills and highly proficient in MS Excel
• Good analytical skills
• Solid oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, and able to work in a team environment
• Must be a dependable, self-starter and self-directed team player
• Ability to work under time constraints, and a positive attitude are necessary.
• Must be organized, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks
• Use of Axs-one and Everest or similar accounting and reporting software a plus
• Ten key by touch
