ACCOUNTING MANAGER / CONTROLLER

Job Description

 

Gate 1 Travel is a major international travel company with an immediate senior level opening in its suburban Philadelphia US headquarters office.

 

The Accounting Manager performs the functions of the chief financial officer, overseeing a staff of 10 employees who run daily book-keeping (payables & receivables) and maintain the general ledger.  They will be responsible for the collection, analysis, verification, and reporting of company financial information.  They will also maximize return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.

Candidates must have a proven track record managing an accounting department for a minimum of 3 years.  Bachelor’s degree required.  Masters/CPA preferred.

 Recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans. Supervises month-end close process including preparation of analysis and review of transactions. Defines and enforces accounting policies and procedures. Meets accounting financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions. Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits; providing information to external auditors. Maximizes return, and limits risk, on cash by minimizing bank balances; making investments.
