Payroll Accountant (6 openings) Job Summary:Assist in the timely and accurate processing of payroll records for approximately 2800 employees, including generating payroll checks, coordinating direct deposits, and preparing related tax information.  Create and post journal entries related to payroll and benefits to the general ledger in accordance to accounting principles. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: ·  Coordinates with Human Resources to help maintain complete and accurate employee profiles as it relates to salaries and benefits information for all employees.·  Assists with preparing payroll and benefit accruals and relevant month-end account reconciliations.  Coordinates timely month-end close of payroll sub-ledger in accordance with the Accounting month-end close schedule.·  Assist with the timely period-end close of the general ledger.  Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and reconciliations with explanations of major variances.  Prepare and review analysis of various accounts verifying that transactions and policies are reflected properly on financial statements.  ·  Assists with monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll and benefits reporting.  ·  Assist in preparing journal entries, automated and manual, in adherence with the company’s accounting policies and proper application of GAAP.·  Reconcile payroll cash accounts, general ledger, and subsidiary accounts on a monthly basis. Prepare reports and schedules as needed for various departments.·  Assist ad-hoc analysis requests from other business units, internal and external auditors.·  Assists with Sarbanes Oxley 404 compliance, documentation and testing.   Additional Duties: ·  Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned.·  Contribute to departmental and corporate actives as required. Education and Experience: ·  Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance·  Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) and/or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) preferred·  CPA license preferred or working towards achieving a license Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:·  Strong analytical skills with the ability to review results, identify anomalies, and take appropriate action as necessary.·  Strong team player with excellent communication (verbal and written) skills.  ·  Experience with Oracle and payroll systems a plus. ·  Experience in managing sensitive and confidential information required.·  Knowledge of accounting polices and procedures are required.·  Knowledge in Microsoft Office: Word, Access, Outlook and Intermediate Excel skill is required.Physical Demands and Work Environment:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
